IRS at Your Fingertips
Tired of being placed on hold by the IRS? Want to get the latest updates and information quickly and efficiently? The IRS wants to help (really!): it now provides information to taxpayers in many formats that don’t waste callers’ time on the phone:
- There’s an APP. IRS2Go allows you to interact with the IRS website from your iPhone, iTouch or Android. Benefits include checking on your refund status and getting tax updates.
- There are videos. Check out tax-related topics that interest you on YouTube. The videos are available in English, American Sign Language, and several foreign languages.
- There’s a Twitter account. Follow @IRSnews for tax-related announcements and job openings.
- There’s a podcast. Short audio recordings on tax-related topics are available on iTunes or through the multimedia center on IRS.gov.
- There’s a widget. Post it on your website, blog, or social media page and help others connect with the IRS.
- There’s an RSS feed. Have the content come into your computer and read it as your schedule permits.
While all these avenues are great ways to obtain general information, if you need specific answers or assistance related to yourself or your business, you’ll need to call or write. Agents are available to answer your questions and resolve your problems while keeping your personal information confidential.Remember, the IRS will never initiate any contact about your account via email, so beware of phishing. If your problem is bigger than you can handle alone, we’re here to lend a helping hand.
